About Bill

Bill Tielke is a husband, father, grandfather, farmer, and small business owner. He has 35 years of experience serving on boards and commissions, making a positive impact on our community and across our state.

Bill started his service back in 1991, when he was appointed to the Nebraska Food Industry Board to promote the interests of Agriculture. He served on the West Holt School Board and the Nebraska Softball Association Board, and he has spent 24 years serving as a Holt County Supervisor, where he prioritized public safety, quality infrastructure, supporting veterans, and keeping the tax burden as low as possible while maintaining critical services. As a Holt County Supervisor, Bill has served as President of the Nebraska Association of County Officials and on the Board of the National Association of County Officials. Throughout his decades of service, Bill has always prioritized listening to his community and fighting for rural Nebraskans. In 2026, Bill was honored with the Outstanding County Board Member of the Year Award from the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO). The recognition came after he was nominated and selected by fellow county officials for his leadership and service.

As co-owner of Tielke Sandwiches, a farmer, and a family man, Bill knows how important it is for costs to be kept as low as possible. As a Holt County Supervisor, Bill championed efficiencies to save taxpayer dollars and he supported economic development to lower the tax burden on farmers, ranchers, and families. As an NPPD Board Director, Bill will continue his work to keep costs low by fighting for low electric bills and affordable energy.

Bill understands the critical importance of safe, resilient infrastructure. During his service on the Holt County Board, the county went through multiple droughts, the bomb cyclone, and serious flooding that damaged all but three bridges in the County. Bill knows first-hand how this kind of damage disrupts livelihoods. Bill ensured that all bridges were repaired, securing federal funding to assist in the effort. As an NPPD Director, Bill will make sure Nebraska’s transmission and generation infrastructure is well maintained, supported, and able to reliably serve our families and our communities.

The energy industry is facing its greatest challenges since our modern grid was constructed. In Nebraska and across the country, we are facing unprecedented growth in energy demand at the same time that much of our current infrastructure is aging and even reaching end of life. We need NPPD Board Directors who are ready to take on this challenge. Bill’s experience means he will be ready on day one to find common sense solutions to affordably and reliably meet our energy needs today and in the future.
